Unique Scale – Conjuring Wonder with Abstract Sculpture
January 23, 2024
Contemporary sculpture, Spira demonstrates that wonder can be conjured at any scale. Carved from stone formed nearly 200 million years ago, it is part of Earth’s primordial past, now bursting forth with motion.
Like a Möbius strip, the surfaces of Spira twist and turn; its sweeping curves maintain perpetual harmony. The edges of the sculpture’s interior spiral approach the form’s outer ring but never meet. This is a gesture towards the cosmic tensions that move time and nature ever onward. To really know that one can feel in awe of an artwork at any scale, see Spira at the monumental height of 100 inches, sited on water at the Enea Tree Museum in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland.
