Upolo

Upolo is an exuberant sculpture carved from Carrara marble that playfully celebrates the unfolding and the unexpected. It is anchored to the ground at three points and maintains a close connection to the earth with its clustered form. This work represents an exciting departure for Richard, yet its shell-like planes, arching curves, and joyful organic spirit continue to embody the powerful motion and sense of geologic time that infuse all of his works with life.
