Richard maintains studios in Williston, Vermont and Carrara & Pietrasanta, Italy.

Abbey Meaker joined Richard Erdman Studios in 2007 and serves as Director, guiding creative strategy and strategic development while overseeing client and gallery relations, sales and commissions, and the stewardship of Richard Erdman’s artistic practice. She has been instrumental in shaping the trajectory of Erdman’s career and the studio’s long-term growth.
An artist, writer, curator, and publisher, Meaker is the co-founder of Another Earth, a publishing platform dedicated to distinctive perspectives on natural environments, psychoanalysis, and analog processes. Her photography has been exhibited internationally, and her essays on the films of David Lynch, desire, surveillance, psychoanalysis, Agnes Denes, Steve McQueen, and related subjects have been widely published.

Valerie Russell joined Richard Erdman Studios in 2019 and serves as Assistant Director, overseeing finance, registrar responsibilities, office administration, and special projects. She plays an integral role in supporting the studio’s daily operations and organizational continuity.
An artist and administrator, Russell brings more than a decade of experience in business operations and bookkeeping. Prior to joining the studio, she founded a boutique design firm and later established a bookkeeping practice serving small businesses. Her combined experience in creative practice and administration helps ensure the smooth functioning of the studio and supports the realization of its artistic projects.

For nearly four decades, Richard Erdman has traveled to Carrara and Pietrasanta, Italy, drawn to the storied white marble revered since the time of Ancient Rome. In these historic centers of stone carving, he joins a lineage of artists stretching back millennia, carrying forward a tradition shaped by both history and place.
