Spira Si

Marble sculpture, Spira Si evokes unbound experience, a sculpture that holds space without containing it. Open and flowing, yet rooted, it gathers and releases the space around it. Moreover, looping bands of marble swoop upwards and seem to coil and loosen with the viewer’s movements.  It’s active twisting and rolling expresses a sinewy and muscular will, upending the ancient and still sedimentary process that formed the stone.  At the intersection of human and monumental scales, human lifetime and geologic epochs, the work connects viewers to elemental forces, offering a heightened encounter with the present.
